About your New Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Early Childhood Teacher who is looking for that next leap into an Educational Leader role.

As our new Educational Leader, your role as an active leading team member will be to provide a safe and stimulating environment that meets the needs of our children. It is your responsibility to encourage engagement and participation in curriculum decision making, in line with our curriculum, standards, and practices.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Bringing the RJCC philosophy to life and reflect this in everyday practice.
  • Ability to adhere to the Centre’s child-safe policy and code of conduct
  • Work collaboratively with educators, children, and families to plan and implement an effective ongoing cycle of planning, documenting, and evaluating in line with the National Quality Framework.
  • Ensure that programmes are designed, implemented, and evaluated in consultation with others to foster all aspects of child development in a holistic way.
  • Develop trusting relationships with families through regular, honest and open communication regarding the care of their children.
  • Leading the development and implementation of the curriculum in collaborating with educators to extended children’s thinking and learning through intentional teaching strategies, inspiring environments, spontaneous play experiences and high-quality documentation.
  • Support educators to gather and analyse information from written observations to ensure children’s strengths, interests and preferences are included in the programme and activities.
  • Support educators to assess each child’s learning and development.
  • Actively build and maintain reciprocal relationships with families and team members.
  • Mentor educators in the education, care, and supervision of all children.
  • Develop and monitor individual and group Learning Development Plans.
  • Monitor and approve centre OWNA posts
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the centres Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)
  • Role modelling, driving, supporting, and reflecting on agreed practice
  • Engaging with families and the community
  • Conducting and supporting professional conversations

Day to day you will:

  • Work off the floor to support the team in programming and practice
  • Complete monthly Focus of the Month reports
  • Develop ongoing mentoring programs and in-house resources
  • Plan, implement and evaluate programs using your strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS)
  • Use your prior leadership experience to mentor Educators to meet high standards of curriculum and documentation by driving goals and profiling educators
  • Use your capability to engage children through activities and experiences appropriate for age groups and stages of development
  • Use your strong knowledge of many different early years theories with no “one size fit’s all”
  • Have a strong understanding of image of child and how to support educators in day-to-day practice
  • Be flexible with routines and able to support multiple rooms requiring assistance
  • Have oversight to ensure each room in the centre is immaculately presented as a welcoming and safe environment.
  • Guide the Self-Assessment Process and support the development of Quality Improvement Plans

Ideally, the successful candidate will have;

  • Confident when communicating with all families, children and educators.
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework, National Regulations and National Quality Standards
  • Practical coaching and inspiring approach to employee management
  • Great written and verbal communication
  • Current ACECQA approved Bachelor qualification
  • Current Working with Children's Check or VIT Registration
  • Current First Aid qualifications
  • Current Child Protection Training or willingness to obtain one
  • Strong leadership skills and previous experience in a similar role, working within a large Centre and team
  • The ability to work as a team-player who is open to different views, receptive to feedback and reflects upon best practice
  • Strong time planning and critical reflection skills to drive the Exceeding Rating in our centre
