Position Purpose

Health Services Managers in Primary Health take a detailed management approach to program establishment, service planning, health practitioner liaison, stakeholder relationship management, budget management and contract management to ensure effective and timely delivery of the services that they are responsible for. In addition to program oversight, they will manage and support staff that directly report into the position and their indirect reports.

They are responsible for establishing and maintaining collaborative, productive working relationships with all stakeholders, and will ensure excellence in program delivery to the communities who need them.

The Health Services Manager – Dental is integral to delivery of RFDS Victoria’s strategic priority of delivering impactful services that support better health and wellbeing in rural communities. This role oversees the dental services that we provide for eligible community members, aged care facilities and schools in rural communities under Commonwealth and State government contracts.

Position Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Oversee operational and clinical management of dental services that are in scope for funded programs
  • Develop and implement systems to ensure the services delivered comply with contractual requirements
  • Work collaboratively for the research, planning and implementation of new dental initiatives, including digital health initiatives, as appropriate
  • Embed, improve and manage the delivery of dental services in alignment with RFDS clinical governance framework and required accreditations
  • Advise on new opportunities for dental services in alignment with organisational strategic plan, develop budgets and business cases to support annual business plans
  • Manage the planning, execution and final delivery of new dental service initiatives
  • Prepare written reports and articles, presentations and media releases to position RFDS Victoria as required
  • Provide or direct Program personnel to provide data, written analysis and reports in relation to primary health as directed by the General Manager Primary Health Care

Qualifications and Experience

  • A qualification or extensive experience in the management of;
    • Health programs with an understanding of accreditation frameworks. models of care, reporting and funding
    • Management of personnel
  • Proven ability to coach and develop others
  • Extensive experience in building and managing strong and collaborative relationships with a wide variety of health care sector stakeholders
  • Experience in seeking funding opportunities and developing funding submissions
  • Experience with strategic planning and business development for digital health projects or programs

Desirable

  • A tertiary qualification in a health discipline
  • Experience or training in health literacy

Skills, knowledge and competencies

  • Highly developed logistic, issue resolution and trouble-shooting skill
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide high level reports present findings to inform decision making
  • Highly developed skills and ability to positively influence teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a collaborative manner across numerous business units
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time, multi-task and prioritise effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate, motivate, consult and negotiate, while building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, dedication and an open mind
  • Willingness to regularly travel across the state
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and numerical skills
  • Proficient computer literacy including Microsoft Office and other health systems/applications
  • Commitment to excellent customer service and person-centred care
  • Drive to continuously improve programs
