About the Role

Join our close-knit data team and make a real impact! You'll have the opportunity to learn, grow, and lead in areas like data warehousing, data governance, and data modelling. As a Data Architect, you will play a critical role in shaping RFDS Victoria's data infrastructure, ensuring seamless management and optimisation of the data warehouse to drive impactful business insights.

You will design, implement, and maintain scalable data systems that align with strategic objectives while safeguarding data integrity, security, and accessibility. Additionally, you will provide guidance in the introduction of new technologies such as AI to work practices across RFDS Victoria. You will be part of a supportive team that values your expertise and fosters your career development.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Data Architecture & Governance - Design and implement scalable, organisation-wide data architecture while embedding governance, security, and compliance into all solutions.
  • ETL & Data Pipeline Management - Develop and manage ETL pipelines, ensuring seamless data collection, integration, and retention with effective auditing and monitoring.
  • Analytics & Reporting - Support the development of dashboards and performance measures using leading BI tools like Tableau and Power BI.
  • Platform & Security Oversight - Participate in platform management activities, maintain secure data structures, and implement role-based access controls.
  • Stakeholder & Team Collaboration - Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams and external partners, fostering innovation, knowledge-sharing, and strategic alignment.

To be successful, you will need:

  • Qualifications & Experience - Knowledge in data architecture, supported by Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology or a minimum of two years' experience in a related field such as database administration, programming or data system management.
  • Technical Expertise - Experience with cloud-based platforms, ETL, warehousing, analytics tools (Snowflake, Matillion, Tableau), and proficiency in SQL, VBA, and API integrations. Experience with Python is advantageous.
  • Security & Compliance - A strong understanding of IT security controls and best practices in data governance.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills - Ability to interpret data trends, improve processes, and solve complex challenges.
  • Communication & Presentation Skills - Proven ability to simplify technical concepts, deliver presentations, and create clear documentation.
  • Collaboration & Influence - A team player who integrates expertise into broader strategies and builds strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current Victorian Drivers Licence, National Police Check, and the right to work in Australia.
