Established in 2006, headspace is Australia's National Youth Mental Health Foundation.
headspace is a world-first youth mental health initiative that supports young people who are going through a tough time; whether it's depression, anxiety, relationship breakups or alcohol and other drug issues. The youth-friendly services at headspace are aimed at teenagers and young adults in recognition of the fact that 75 per cent of mental disorders emerge before the age of 25.
headspace Cairns (under the direction of the RFDS (Qld) Services Limited) is run by a multidisciplinary team of health professionals focused on the provision of early intervention services, utilising evidence-based practice, with the vision of improving the quality of life of young people. headspace Cairns services Cairns city and provides Outreach services, taking headspace “on the road” to communities in Innisfail, Mareeba Shire and Tablelands regions.
We have an exciting and rare opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Clinician (Outreach) to work autonomously providing headspace Outreach Services to the Innisfail, Mareeba Shire and Tablelands regions.
The role is based out of Cairns and requires you to work on a two-week roster, four days on and three days off including a base day in Cairns once a fortnight.
You will actively engage each assigned community including schools, community centres and service providers to identify each community’s needs. You will provide tailored Outreach Services including brief interventions and coordinating care for young people in the region. You will work autonomously, with the freedom to apply your expertise and use your own creativity and innovation adapting to the needs of your clients and the greater community.
We are looking for someone with a keen interest in youth and family services who will proudly and actively represent headspace as a community member. You will hold a current AHPRA or AASW professional registration and qualifications in Psychology, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Work.

Successful candidates will be subject to a Police Checks and Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing and apply and maintain a current Bluecard. You will be required to successfully complete the RFDS credentialing process which includes providing certified copies of qualifications/registrations and evidence of immunity or vaccination against VPD.
