About the Be Hope Campaign

Be Hope is a growing movement of Australians who believe a better future is still possible - and that ordinary people have a role to play in creating it.

Together, we're building support for a world that is fairer and more sustainable by encouraging action on issues that affect people, planet, and peace. Through our Stories That Change the World speaker series and a growing national community of advocates, supporters, and changemakers, we bring people together to connect, learn, and take action. You'll hear from inspiring leaders tackling some of the world's biggest challenges, explore how hope can be translated into meaningful action, and become part of a community of like-minded people across Australia working towards a better future.

The campaign focuses on three key priorities:

  • For People: supporting stronger investment in global health and development.
  • For Planet: encouraging greater climate ambition and action.
  • For Peace: strengthening international cooperation and Australia's role as a positive global citizen.

The Opportunity

As a Be Hope Community Campaigner, you'll join a national network of people who are turning hope into action.

You'll learn how change happens, build relationships within the Be Hope community, engage with decision-makers, and work alongside others who want to create a better future.

As a Community Campaigner, you'll also receive access to Be Hope's Stories That Change the World speaker series - a regular program of inspiring conversations with leaders, advocates, and thinkers tackling some of the world's biggest challenges.

No previous advocacy or campaigning experience is required. We provide training, resources, mentoring, and ongoing support to help you build your confidence and skills.

What You'll Do

As a Community Campaigner, you will:

  • Participate in advocacy actions that support people, planet, and peace.
  • Take part in meetings with Members of Parliament and Senators (if you wish).
  • Write emails, letters, or submissions to elected representatives.
  • Attend regular learning, action, and campaign briefing sessions.
  • Build relationships with others who care about creating positive change.
  • Share campaign messages through social media and community networks.
  • Encourage others to get involved in the Be Hope movement.
  • Help grow public support for practical solutions that create a safer and more hopeful world.

What You'll Gain

As a Community Campaigner, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Be part of a supportive community of people committed to creating positive change.
  • Be inspired by our Stories That Change the World speaker series, featuring remarkable individuals who demonstrate what hope looks like in action - and how each of us can play a role in creating change.
  • Develop practical skills in advocacy, campaigning, communications, and community organising.
  • Gain hands-on experience engaging with Australia's democratic and political systems.
  • Build confidence in communicating with elected representatives and decision-makers.
  • Deepen your understanding of issues relating to global health, international development, climate action, and international cooperation.
  • Connect with advocates, experts, and community leaders from across Australia.

Time Commitment

Flexible.

Most Community Campaigners contribute between 1-2 hours per week, and we ask that you are available between June-December 2026. There are opportunities for greater involvement if desired.

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking people who:

  • Believe a better future is possible.
  • Care about people, planet, and peace.
  • Are willing to learn and take action.
  • Enjoy connecting with others and building relationships.
  • Want to make a meaningful contribution to their community and the wider world.

People of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels are encouraged to apply.
