About Red Lily Health Board

Red Lily Health aims to improve the health of Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory through promoting and extending the principle of local Aboriginal community control over primary health care services to Aboriginal People.

About the Role

Reporting to the Business Manager, the Finance Manager will play a critical part in driving process enhancements while providing high level bookkeeping and financial accounting support across the organisation. You will be working in the Darwin office within the Corporate Support Team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Management of Accounts Payable and Receivable
  • Management of Financial Systems
  • Reconciliation of Financial Accounts
  • Oversee the functions of a multi-cost centre environment, including but not limited to budget preparation and variance analysis; forecasting; business analysis and grant acquittals
  • Management of Red Lily funding compliance register
  • General accounting, procurement, audit preparation and compliance procedures
  • Completing monthly reporting and ensuring that all income and expenses are captured in the correct month and that descriptions, tax treatments and amounts are correct
  • Supporting the continuous review and improvement of processes to ensure tasks are performed most efficiently, automated where possible and documented
  • Prepare BAS and other reporting to the ATO including FBT
  • Assist with payroll processing as required
  • Cash flow projections and management
  • Reporting and resolving account discrepancies
  • Identifying areas to improve business efficiencies and reduce costs
  • Provide support to the Business Manager and Executive Team
  • Travel to remote communities by car or light aircraft to attend board meetings and present financial data to the board members

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Commerce, or Accounting, or equivalent, which allows membership to the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) or Chartered Accountants Association (CA) or completing study towards these qualifications.
  2. At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  3. Proven experience in finance, budgetary procedures and accounting practices in a multi-cost centre environment.
  4. Strong proficiency in MYOB and Microsoft 365 (including SharePoint).
  5. Desire for continuous improvements.
  6. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  7. Ability to use initiative, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  8. Demonstrated contemporary knowledge of accounting and financial principles, practices and standards.
  9. Demonstrated ability to liaise, coach and provide ongoing support to develop stakeholders to have a mutual understanding of responsible financial management and budget performance.

Desirable skills

  1. Exposure or experience within a Non-For-Profit environment
  2. Experience working in an Aboriginal controlled organisation delivering services in remote communities.
