This is an exciting opportunity for an Engagement & Program Officer who is efficient and highly organised to join the Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG).

AAG is Australia's only independent, impartial membership organisation whose over-arching aim is to improve the experience of ageing by connecting research, policy and practice. The work of AAG is to facilitate collaboration between researchers, policy makers and practitioners to build the evidence base for best practice programs and policies that enable Australians to age well.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Policy and Research Manager you will work to support engagement with AAG's key stakeholders and support them by providing a range of high-level administrative and customer centric activities aligned to AAG's organisational objectives. You will be instrumental in helping AAG towards their:

  • Vision of a world where every person is valued, heard, seen and respected as we age
  • Purpose to build a community of experts connecting evidence and experience to inform and influence decisions related to ageing
  • Mission to connect research, policy and practice
  • Goal to be recognised as Australia’s thought leaders on ageing

You will work closely and collaboratively with the National Aged Care Alliance (NACA), AAG Board, Council, Sub-committees, members, colleagues and volunteers to support AAG's sustainable growth and ensure the smooth and successful delivery of AAG's operations and services.

Key activities and accountabilities include:

  • Providing secretariat and governance support.
  • Coordinating and assisting with the implementation of programs and initiatives aligned with organisational, grant, policy and research programs and schedules to ensure that strategic objectives are met.
  • Collaborating and assisting stakeholders and colleagues to deliver events and member engagement activities in a timely manner.
  • Supporting and developing engagement with members.
  • Meeting timelines and tight deadlines and bringing others to work together to meet reporting requirements.

To be successful and meet the key requirements of this role, it is essential that you:

  • Have a genuine interest in the key issues relating to ageing and aged care in Australia.
  • Are self-motivated, with the ability to work autonomously to deliver the key objectives of your role.
  • Have high levels of personal integrity, are ethical, professional and adhere to privacy and confidentiality obligations.
  • Can provide executive-level support and prepare documents and reports for Board and Sub-committee meetings.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to build, manage, strengthen and maintain relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written skills (exceptional grammar, spelling and punctuation skills with meticulous attention to detail).
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar role (ideally in the health, science or higher education sector).
  • Capacity to work outside of usual business hours and travel as required.

All AAG staff work from home, so you must be comfortable and capable of working remotely, while engaging as an integral member of the AAG national office team.
