Who are we? Access, Wellbeing & Equity! (AW&E)

True to our name, AW&E provides and promotes health and wellbeing services while driving equity programs across the wider University community, with the goal of creating a diverse, accessible and inclusive environment to enhance the student experience.

You will be part of the high-energy, creative and friendly Wellbeing and Equity Projects Team, providing non-academic student support through a range of activities, events and initiatives, many of which are run through the wellbeing drop in space known as The Den.

The Role

As the Respect Officer, you will help maintain a positive and inclusive educational environment through the provision of projects, programs, events and activities that promote and enhance respect, safety, wellbeing and equity for our diverse student community.

Reporting to the Manager Student Wellbeing and Equity Projects, you will liaise with numerous stakeholders across the University to lead activities that assist with building strong social connections and a sense of belonging, particularly for students from underrepresented or marginalised backgrounds.

What you'll bring to this role

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field OR equivalent relevant experience
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of supporting wellbeing and inclusion of people from diverse and/or marginalised communities
  • Great organisational skills with experience facilitating activities and initiatives
  • You thrive in a fast-paced team environment while having the ability to succeed autonomously
  • Your communication skills are fantastic from written to verbal across varying environments
  • You're committed and passionate about wellbeing and equity practices and have an understanding of the importance of recognising intersectionality

Lived experience of, or prior working experience working with, one or more of the following diverse and/or underrepresented communities will be highly regarded:

  • LGBTIQA+
  • First Nations
  • International students / Cultural and Linguistically Diverse background
  • Students with disability, neurodiversity, health conditions and caring responsibilities
