Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) is a secular, community-based, not-for-profit organisation with no religious affiliations who have been providing services to the Victorian community for over 75 years. Our vision is for “positive, respectful, safe and fulfilling relationships for all Australians”.

The Gippsland Youth Enhanced Service (YES) will provide enhanced support to young people 12-25 years of age who are living with, or at risk of severe and complex mental health issues, and who require a greater level of support than what can be provided by GPs, private clinicians, headspace services and school counsellors. Often referred to as the system’s ‘missing middle’, the needs of this cohort of young people are typically considered to be too complex to be met by the primary mental health care system, but not acute enough for the tertiary mental health system. The program will include holistic and high-quality mental health and psycho-social supports that will be continuously adapted to meet the changing needs of young people.

The role

Reporting to the Manager, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive, therapeutic mental health services for young people with complex presentations. As a first and ongoing point of contact, your responsibilities include building a positive rapport with a wide range of young people and their family/friends.

You will be assessing a young person’s needs from a young person-centred approach, completing biopsychosocial mental health assessments, risk assessments and managing risk presentations during the Intake process and the episode of care.

We are seeking a part-time candidate to work at our headspace Wonthaggi centre for four (4) days per week (including Tuesday evening shifts). This position is fixed term contract until June 2025, with potential to move to a permanent contract, subject to funding of the program.

About you

  • Degree qualified in allied health (social work, mental health nursing, occupational therapy or psychology).
  • Current full registration/membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Current Drivers License and access to a car.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, prioritising and managing work tasks and deadlines.
  • Understanding of the challenges and experiences of young people from diverse backgrounds (rural and remote settings, culturally and linguistically diverse, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, and LGBTQI).

We provide

  • Competitive salary including meal/entertainment and salary packaging.
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance.
  • Generous employment conditions and benefits including additional paid leave benefits - parental, study, personal and compassionate, flexible, family violence leave as well as paid ex-gratia leave between Christmas and New Year.
  • Access to professional development and training including our Registered Training Organisation programs where we provide accredited and non-accredited courses.
  • Best practice clinical supervision and support through a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program.
  • Career progression opportunities internally across Melbourne Metropolitan and Regional Victoria centres.

The base salary range is $92k-$99k (pro-rata) per annum.

We encourage candidates to apply as soon as possible by sending their application and resume so we can progress to interviews.
