This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, experienced practitioner at our Wonthaggi headspace centre to join Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV).

About headspace

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12–25-year-olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers core areas including mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services. Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) is the lead agency for headspace Wonthaggi, which is governed by a consortium of local community organisations who provide expertise, support and advice to RAV.

About the role

Reporting to the Centre Manager, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team to provide community engagement and youth advocacy. You will proactively promote the headspace centre services to help young people who have/may be at risk of developing a mental health and/or substance use disorder or have economic and social recovery needs, to get access to health and other services. This role is based at our Wonthaggi centre and is full-time ongoing with working hours 10am to 6pm weekdays with one evening shift per week on Thursday which is 12-8pm.

About you

  • Degree qualified in Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Development, Social/Behavioural Science, Social Work/Planning or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with young people with mental health, alcohol and other drug, or other social issues.
  • Experience coordinating and facilitating youth programs, events and activities within a community setting.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with expertise using social media platforms.
