About the Position
- Job Title: Engagement Coordinator
- Salary: Level 5 Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award. $97, 300 - $101, 800 (or part - time equivalent). Salary sacrifice is available as RAILS has PBI status
- Contract Term: Until 30 June 2026, with the possibility of extension
- Responsible to: Executive Director and Principal Solicitor
- Direct Reports: Nil
- Days and Hours: Part time, 3 days/week
- Location: South Brisbane (hybrid work arrangements considered)
Overview
The Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in building and sustaining relationships with supporters, private donors and the broader community. The primary focus of the role is to lead RAILS’ fundraising and engagement strategies, helping to secure financial support and raise awareness of our work.
The Engagement Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director and Operations Director to ensure that RAILS’ mission is communicated effectively and that our fundraising efforts are strategic, ethical and aligned with our values.
As a secondary focus, as capacity allows, the role will also contribute to RAILS’ community engagement activities.
Role Responsibilities
The following responsibilities are indicative and not exhaustive:
- Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement a fundraising strategy that includes individual giving, major donors and foundations, private grants and community fundraising.
- Donor Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with private donors, foundations and supporters.
- Develop donor communications and stewardship plans to ensure ongoing engagement.
- Campaigns and Events: Plan and deliver fundraising campaigns and community engagement events that raise awareness and support for RAILS’ work, including the development of copy and related materials.
- Communications and Storytelling:
- Work with staff to gather stories and data that demonstrate impact.
- Create compelling content for newsletters, social media, and fundraising materials.
- Grants and Philanthropy: Identify and apply for relevant private grants and philanthropic opportunities in collaboration with the leadership team.
- Partnerships and Outreach: Develop partnerships with community organisations, foundations, businesses and individuals to support RAILS’ mission.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track fundraising performance and prepare reports for management and the Board.
Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising and donor engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience planning and delivering events or campaigns.
- Understanding of the not-for-profit and/or community legal sector is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Developed skills in the use of IT systems such as Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint)
- Alignment with RAILS’ mission and values.
