About headspace

headspace centres aim to create highly accessible, youth friendly, integrated service hubs that provide evidence-based interventions and support to young people aged 12–25 years. The aim is to improve outcomes for young people by addressing the major barriers for service use, and enabling better access to, and engagement in, early intervention services that provide holistic and integrated care in mental health, drug and alcohol, employment, education and physical health services and support, as well as providing information for young people and their families and friends.

headspace Wagga Wagga provides young people with access to Allied Health Professionals and community supports to assist young people to access the support they need to develop and maintain the skills and confidence to live healthy and happy lives. headspace Wagga Wagga also engages in community awareness and seeks to develop and implement innovative programs to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people in the region. Relationships Australia Canberra & Region is the lead agency for headspace Wagga Wagga and is supported by a Consortium.

About the Role

The focus of the Vocational Specialist is to implement the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) within headspace Wagga Wagga. The Vocational Specialist will work with young people who experience barriers to employment and/or education to support them to achieve their vocation and/or education goals.

This will involve assertive outreach work combined with excellent youth engagement skills to ensure young people are well supported and are linked to suitable employment opportunities.

This is a fixed-term position available part time, based in Wagga Wagga, NSW.

To be successful in this role, you are required to possess:

  1. Tertiary qualifications including relevant professional registration as required and/or experience in employment services, vocational rehabilitation, career development or a related field.
  2. Extensive knowledge of issues that impact young people when accessing employment and/or educational opportunities.
  3. Demonstrated experience placing and supporting young people with complex needs in employment and educational settings.
  4. Demonstrated experience and success at initiating and sustaining collaborative partnerships with a range of organisations within the employment and education service system.

Salary & Benefits

The salary on offer is in the range of $77,854.40 to $79,000.98 per annum plus superannuation for full time. As a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI), RACR employees also receive tax-effective salary packaging opportunities, thus significantly increasing the value of your take-home pay.

According to the RACR Enterprise Agreement, the successful candidate will have access to generous leave provisions, annual leave loading, special paid leave during annual holiday shutdown period and flexible working arrangements.
