Your new role

  • Part-time Ongoing (0.40 FTE) located either Deakin, ACT or Wagga Wagga, NSW
  • Annual Salary between $85,120.34 to $91,586.54, plus Superannuation, NFP Salary Packaging, Paid Christmas closure and other generous leave provisions under our Enterprise Agreement.

The Family Worker Senior Relationships Service (SRS) facilitates a range of support services for elderly clients and aims to strengthen the well-being of older adults experiencing, or likely to experience, abuse through intake, assessment, case management and other therapeutic interventions.

Duties:

Under the general direction of the Senior Clinician the Family Worker is responsible for:

  • Engaging with and assessing eligibility of clients and their presenting issues for the program and make referrals to other relevant services if required.
  • Providing information to clients and their families on government and community resources and eligibility for practical and financial support. Coordinate access to services required by the client and client's family and monitor their ongoing effectiveness where appropriate.
  • Providing case coordination services in liaison with the practitioners. Maintaining contact with clients that have difficulty in identifying their own needs and work in a client-centred way including supported decision making and/or working with substitute decision makers when appropriate, and support practitioners with outreach services, including home visits.
  • Working in partnership with and engaging local community stakeholders and networks, to raise awareness of, and inspire community commitment to, reducing elder abuse; along with promoting services offered through the Senior Relationships Service
  • Maintaining a professional standard of behaviour and the confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients/cases and their families

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in providing case management and related services.
  • Knowledge and understanding of family violence, elder abuse, ageing and ageing related issues.
  • An appropriate qualification in community services, social work, psychology, social sciences or similar-
  • Demonstrated knowledge & understanding of issues facing the elderly, minority and diverse communities and ability to respond respectfully, and in particular with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, culturally diverse communities and LGBTQIA communities. Demonstrated knowledge of theoretical frameworks for providing client centred and strengths-based intervention that is trauma-informed, and crisis intervention.
  • Demonstrated skill in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
