Your new role

  • Full Time Ongoing located at Deakin, ACT
  • Pay negotiable for the right applicant plus Superannuation, NFP Salary Packaging, Paid Christmas closure and other generous leave provisions under our Enterprise Agreement.

The Community Engagement and Awareness Officer raises awareness about RACR programs and services and increases community access to these services. This is achieved via the Community Engagement Framework, by presenting communication and awareness strategies that cater to individuals, couples, families, service providers and the general community while promoting healthy relationships across the life span.

Duties:

In collaboration with Service Delivery Managers and Team Leaders, the Community Engagement and Awareness Officer:

  • Assists in the development and implementation of the RACR Community Engagement Framework.
  • Plays a lead in campaigns and events including online content for RACR social media, with the aim of increasing awareness and engagement among target groups.
  • Provides support, including co-facilitation of community consultation and education activities.
  • Maintains and shares knowledge of local services and cultivates referral pathways for current and potential clients of the RACR programs which can best respond to their needs.
  • Works collaboratively with partner organisations and key stakeholders, to provide a seamless entry point and quality service provision including assessment, intake and referral of clients and their families via telephone or face-to-face contact.

What you’ll need to succeed

  1. Certificate IV (AQF level 4) in Community Services or a related field, equivalent experience or willingness to undertake.
  2. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to deliver small group activities and deliver presentations to various groups.
  3. Demonstrated skills in maintaining an active feedback loop with internal stakeholders while undertaking community awareness raising. Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency with all social media platforms, technology, including the ability to use Microsoft Office applications and the capacity to quickly learn new technologies, including electronic client management system packages.
  5. Demonstrated experience working with diverse cultural communities and an understanding of the factors to be considered when planning community engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and LGBTQIA+ communities.
