Your new role

• Full time, Fixed term until 30 June 2027 located Deakin ACT
• Annual Salary between $98185.54 to $102491.77, plus Superannuation, NFP Salary Packaging, Paid Christmas closure and other generous leave provisions under our Enterprise Agreement.

The position provides trauma-informed therapeutic case management to survivors of child sexual abuse who are considering applying to the National Redress Scheme. The Therapeutic Case Manager provides client focused support in a trauma informed context as well as providing accurate information about the scheme and to assist completing Redress Applications.

Duties:

Under the direction of the Team Leader, the Therapeutic Case Manager position is responsible for:

• Supporting individuals with complex childhood trauma to re-engage with self-determined services.
• Providing information and assisting clients in completing and submitting applications to the National Redress Scheme, as well as to access Find and Connect and Forced Adoption programs.
• Counselling clients and supporting them to share their experiences of childhood trauma safely. This can be face to face, on the phone, online and within other institutions such as prisons.
• Supporting disclosures and sensitively documenting clients' traumatic childhood experiences and the impact this has had on their lives
• Conducting risk assessments, developing safety plans, and offering crisis intervention support when necessary

What you’ll need to succeed

1. Relevant experience and qualification in the field of Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Counselling or Social Science. Current registration/membership with at least one of the following: Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA); Australian Association for Social Workers (AASW); Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and Level 2 or above Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
2. Demonstrated generalist counselling skills and experience supporting adults with a lived experience of childhood trauma, complex mental health and functional challenges, and clients in crisis.
3. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively engage clients through video-call and telephone.
4. Demonstrated skills in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with community stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated case management skills, including commitment to attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the skill to support clients through the case management journey.
