Lawyer - Community & Health Justice Partnerships

LawRight’s Community and Health Justice Partnerships operate at community and health organisations, where staff and visiting pro bono lawyers collaborate with health and community workers to resolve the complex, intersecting problems of clients.

Duties include:

  • Oversee the delivery of pro bono legal services at outreach locations;
  • Engage with relevant community agency and strategic partners;
  • Develop expertise in relevant areas of law;
  • Contribute to resource development;
  • Conduct research, policy, and systemic advocacy work; and
  • Contribute to the CHJP training program to volunteer lawyers.

Experience/skills:

  • Holder of current QLS Unrestricted Practicing certificate (or interstate equivalent)
  • Experience providing legal services to marginalised clients, with the delivery of services in an outreach location an advantage;
  • Knowledge of the legal issues faced by people experiencing vulnerability and disadvantage, with an understanding of the issues impacting homelessness an advantage;
  • Flexibility and initiative suitable for working in a team environment with limited resources;
  • Knowledge and understanding of outreach legal services in collaborative and pro bono legal settings; and
  • Strong commitment to access to justice and compassion for disadvantaged members of society.

Level 5 of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award 2010

Benefits:

  • Leave loading and six weeks annual leave plus 10.5% superannuation.
  • Eligibility to salary sacrifice up to $35,000 (grossed up) of income to personal and entertainment expenses.
