You will be required to provide high level clinical assessment and case management, working in a small team to ensure achievement of operational outcomes.

The core capability requirements for this role are:

  • Provide confidential psychological assessment and clinical intervention which may include crisis intervention, case management, short-term brief intervention, psychological first aid, stress management, and psychoeducation, across a range of presentations such as loss, grief, and bereavement, domestic and family violence, trauma, and associated responses.
  • Undertake health, wellbeing and psychological assessments, including assessment of current supports in place, to determine suitability and additional referral options and pathways and potential alternate therapeutic intervention and modalities.
  • Undertake risk assessments to determine psychological safety, and if required, develop safety plans for complainants.
  • Actively promote internal and external services available to participants, including facilitating referrals to QPS specific services where appropriate.
  • Provide high level case management to support client-centered decision making and initiate appropriate referral pathways to encourage active client participation throughout the complaints and/or investigatory process.
  • Provide professional advice and consultative services to the ESC team, managers, and supervisors regarding the psychological and emotional health of employees from a victim-survivor-centric trauma-informed health framework.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of relevant policies, programs, strategies, frameworks and service planning initiatives for the effective delivery of this role.
  • Assist in the identification and delivery of training programs, mental health care information and resources, quality improvement initiatives, and other interventions for QPS members consistent with QPS Health, Safety, and Wellbeing strategies.

Role Requirements:

Mandatory

  • At least 5 years demonstrated experience working therapeutically in a health, human services and/or justice environment supporting victim-survivors of domestic and family violence, grief, loss and bereavement, trauma, and crisis intervention.
  • Current registration with a relevant professional body
  • Possession of a “C” Class Driver's Licence as travel for official business is a requirement of the role.

Qualification

  • Undergraduate degree in Psychology, Social Science, Social Work, or Counselling (or a related mental health and/or human services field) from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • A postgraduate qualification in any of the above will be highly regarded.
  • Understanding of medico-legal processes would be advantageous.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification, registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association (e.g. AHPRA, AASW, ACA, PACFA).
