ABOUT THE ROLE

The importance of workforce attraction, retention and skilling is a shared focus of all Queensland farming businesses.

The SmartAg Queensland program is an industry relevant workforce training program that will focus on the four pillars of Business, Technology, Safety and Production offering Queensland based accredited training, skill sets, and micro-credentials by Skills Assure Suppliers and Industry recognised experts. The skills learned will be transferable, portable, and recognisable across agricultural industries and the state.

The Project Manager will ensure training delivered as part of SmartAg Queensland is done so in a way that supports the agricultural enterprises involved and is cost effective for regional and rural locations.

Reporting to the General Manager (Policy and Projects), this role will be a valued member of the QFF team.

This role is full time, fixed term from 1 April 2024 to 30 June 2027.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Coordinate the delivery of training to targeted industries.
  • Develop an ‘agriculture friendly’ RTO network that deliver training to agriculture well and in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Work with Smart Ag Qld Advisory Committee to review and develop training focuses annually based on industry need and demand.
  • Manage marketing and budget for the program.
  • Work with other stakeholders to develop partnership opportunities to help grow the program and achieve longevity of the program, further funding and longevity of the program.
  • Develop and maintain a close relationship with the VET sector to inform innovations and change to support industry needs.
  • Work with QFF and members to develop an exciting and successful training delivery program that directly addresses skills needs across the agriculture sector in Queensland

WHAT YOU'LL BRING - THE ESSENTIALS

  • Demonstrated practical project management and/or training development and coordination experience.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, coordination and organisational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work in a dynamic workplace engaging across multiple stakeholders.
  • An understanding of the Queensland agricultural sector and/or regional communities
  • High level of computer literacy especially in the MS Office suite and MS Teams.

NICE TO HAVE

  • An understanding or ability to quickly acquire an understanding of the workforce and training needs in Queensland agriculture.
  • An existing network that would support success in the role.
