The Union Summer internship is a paid 3-week internship program run by Queensland Unions. The internship is targeted primarily at young workers who are passionate about social justice and their rights at work.
Successful interns are placed with a trade union and provided with training and a diverse experience of what it is like to work for a union.
There are no prerequisites for the internship, however, experience in union, community, social justice, or student activism is desirable.
The Queensland Council of Unions (QCU) is the peak union body in Queensland. It is comprised 26 affiliated unions, representing 400,000 union members.

Queensland Unions will interview applicants on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 December 2024. Please ensure that you are available to participate in an interview on one of the two days.
The program will be run from Monday 3 February to Friday 21 February 2025.
This will be inclusive of 4 days of induction, training and skills development activities at the Queensland Council of Unions offices at 16 Peel Street South Brisbane.
Successful applicants will be placed in a union and mentored by a union official. All participants will be paid the current minimum wage.
The program is predominately based in the Brisbane CBD and South Brisbane with possible travel. Successful applicants should assume they will be working within metropolitan Brisbane.
