Permanent, full-time opportunity SCHADS 5.1, $49.28 per hour + attractive salary packaging Hybrid position, with the opportunity to WFH

As the Advocate (Aged Care) you will inform, educate, support, and represent ADA Australia clients, helping to empower them to make their own choices while having their rights and interests respected. You'll be providing advocacy at individual and group level by phone, email and face to face in the community, resolving issues for vulnerable older people. This is a very rewarding and fulfilling opportunity to support our communities including Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples in far north Queensland.

You will be reporting to, and working closely with the Team Leader and the Manager, Advocacy Services and maintain collaborative relationships with all other staff members.

Key Duties include

  • Deliver high-quality advocacy to support our clients.
  • Network and build partnerships with other organisations to promote our services.
  • Represent ADA Australia at workshops, forums, public engagements, and networking events.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate services for our clients.
  • Complete timely, associated administration.
  • Identify service needs/gaps from casework and provide feedback.
  • Actively participate and collaborate with team members.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and legislation.

About You

  • Strong and meaningful connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Experience working with and/or advocating for older people or vulnerable groups.
  • Be familiar with working within a social justice framework.
  • High level interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate with and deliver presentations to groups.
  • Strong computer and administration skills.
  • Understanding to apply legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Relevant qualification and/or training (desirable).
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the region (inc. overnight stays as reqd.)

Essential Requirements

  • Valid Australian Driver’s license
  • Current National Criminal History Certificate
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
  • Valid Working with Children/Blue Card.
