About Us

Professional Individualised Care (PIC) is a new non-government organisation providing out-of-home care for vulnerable young people in NSW. The PIC model is based on a German model of care that has been delivering successfully outcomes in OOHC for more than 25 years.

What we do

The PIC model places one young person with one Professional Therapeutic Carer (PTC). Our PTC’s have industry-recognised qualifications and extensive professional work experience, plus a desire to work in a home-based environment that provides a ‘whole of life' response to the complex needs and care of a young person. PTC’s are employed and paid a full-time salary plus a carers allowance. Each carer is supported by a Case Coordinator, an internal Therapeutic Specialist and a Respite & Recreation Specialist. By creating a highly supportive environment for both the carer and the young person, we enable real relationships and best practice therapeutic work to take place.

The Role

As a Professional Therapeutic Carer at PIC your role is to establish and maintain a close supportive relationship with one young person in your home. The PIC model matches one young person with one carer, this matching is based on the young person’s needs and past experiences and the PTC’s professional skills and background. The young person lives together with the PTC, but unlike traditional foster care the PTC has the professional skill set to respond to high needs behaviour and to meet the needs of young people with a trauma background. The mix of professionally informed support and a home-based setting, provides the young person with a genuine opportunity to develop real relationships and attachments, that is key to the success of the PIC model.

About you

We are looking for dedicated people who have the following skills and experience:

  • Share our vision for providing better outcomes for young people in out-of-home care
  • Have a degree level qualification in social welfare or a related area
  • Demonstrate highly developed emotional intelligence
  • Can resolve problems and crisis with compassion and resilience
  • Can commit to long-term professional nearness with young people
  • And can play well with others (especially those in other agencies and gov departments)

Pay

PIC pays comparative full-time wages ($83,430 per year), plus a foster carers allowance. Please note, PIC is also able to offer full FTB benefits with access to salary packaging.
