Workshop Facilitator

PowerWells

At PowerWells, we work across a number of projects related to repurposing used lithium-ion batteries to give them a second life, divert toxic waste from landfill and provide energy to people without access to electricity. Our workshops are a crucial part of our business; we focus on providing schools and corporations with knowledge and skills related to the circular economy, recycling and renewable energy.

We deliver two types of workshops

  1. School Engagement: Our programs are designed to broaden the awareness and knowledge of the circular economy through practical and engaging workshops. We work with schools from across the Brisbane region, connecting with students from diverse backgrounds, ages and cultures.
  2. Corporate Team Building and Volunteering Workshops: We partner with companies to provide workshops that align with their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) requirements. We deliver these workshops onsite at corporate offices and offsite at Substation33 in Logan.

We are looking for a passionate facilitator to join our team and help run both streams, school and corporate. You do not require any prior experience working with batteries, electronics or solar. We will teach you these skills along the way; what we are really looking for is passion, alignment to our values (see at the bottom of the page) and someone who is a fast learner, confident facilitator and eager to grow within a purpose lead company.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating and leading interactive and practical activities related to renewable energy, the circular economy and disassembling electronic waste (old computers, monitors and batteries)
  • Overseeing high school learning groups and keeping students engaged throughout the workshop
  • Liaise with teachers and corporates and other points of contacts in schools and companies to organise and manage workshop preparation and delivery

The skills we are looking for

  • Experience running, facilitating and organising workshops, training or similar
  • Confident presenter skills and the ability to manage and engage groups of diverse people (age, background etc)
  • Comfortable running workshops in front of high school students but also adults in a corporate environment
  • Strong organisation and planning skills
  • A true passion for engaging young people (and adults!)
  • Strong ability to think on your feet and take initiative
  • A passion for sustainability, helping people and our environment

Bonus

  • Experience developing content for educational workshops in schools
  • Ideally you have a car for your own means of transport

Our role offers growth opportunities in a purposeful Brisbane startup. We are looking for a passionate team player that resonates with our values.

Our company values

  1. Do No Harm - a bare minimum to be built upon
  2. Impact, Impact, Impact - social, environmental and economical impact
  3. Empowerment - across the board, always
  4. Fun, but respectful - ‘light hearted’ not ‘making light’
  5. Further the shift to renewables - it’s inevitable but the speed matters
