We’re looking for a HR Leader to join our growing company of 45 staff in Collingwood. The Head of People Experience will work across the entire business including Design, Technology, Product and Production to ensure that Portable excels at its goal to be the best place for creatives to work in Australia. This isn't your typical leadership role and you will have the ability to be a hands-on steward of Portable's culture by leveraging insights from your work to identify trends and create proactive solutions to address them. As part of your role, your #1 goal is to help grow an exceptional team that drives Portable's success. You'll be supported by Hayley our People Experience Manager as well as senior leaders in the business including our Chief Strategy Office, Design Director and CEO. You will also be formally mentored and guided by our current Head of People who will be acting in a consulting role going forward.

What you'll do:

  • Provide day-to-day coaching, leadership, and support to the Design, Technology and Production teams
  • Be a trusted advisor to employees and managers by providing coaching and support to help them deliver their best work
  • Keep your finger on the pulse of the organisation, supporting employees through hardship, and influencing managers to enact changes that preserve what’s unique about our culture while helping us evolve to support the needs of staff
  • Partner with a variety of stakeholders to provide counsel, and facilitate fair and effective resolution of workplace concerns to help deliver a positive employee experience
  • Manage candidate search, recruitment and experience across the business, ensuring high quality outcomes for candidates and new recruits whilst helping to guide our HR team
  • Analyse people relations to develop proactive strategies, solutions, programs, and policies
  • Drive planning and implementation of company-wide HR initiatives

What we're looking for:

  • 3+ years of solid people management experience
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to coach, influence, and partner with various levels of employees
  • Facilitation and training experience
  • Ability to travel occasionally
