Plate it Up Food Literacy is a public company limited by guarantee and a registered charity. Our start up organisation is guided by a dedicated board of public health nutritionists, dietitians, chefs, academic researchers and professionals with expertise in law, clinical health and business. 

Diet-related disease is increasing in communities, impacting everyday health and wellbeing. Our mission is to empower communities to make informed food choices and cultivate lifelong positive eating habits and behaviours around food. Through education in our sessions and events, we equip people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to enjoy a healthier, more sustainable food behaviours for personal and planetary health

The Opportunity

Use your communications and brand expertise to support a purpose-driven organisation improving community wellbeing through nutrition and food literacy education. We welcome people who bring strategic insight, strong networks or fresh thinking to grow our reach and impact.

Skills and Experience: We are looking for experience in public relations, communications, strategic marketing or brand development, with the ability to contribute at a governance level and support the organisation’s long-term growth.

We strongly encourage applications from people of diverse backgrounds, lived experiences and career stages, including emerging and established professionals who are motivated by social impact.

Time Commitment and the role on the board

This is a governance role rather than a day-to-day operational position, though occasional support on agreed priorities between meetings may be required.

The role includes:

Governance

  • Provide communications and public relations input aligned with our mission and impact goals.
  • Support promotion of our programs, events and fundraising activities.
  • Contribute to fundraising strategy.
  • Attend bi-monthly online board meetings.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making between meetings.
  • Uphold strong standards of ethics and accountability.

Research, Grant Writing & Philanthropic Funding

  • Support competitive government and philanthropic grant applications.
  • Help shape funding strategy.
  • Bring an understanding of NGO compliance and funding acquittals.
