About Plan C

Founded in 2019, Our Plan C Inc. (known as Plan C) is a not-for-profit registered charity with a mission to build the resilience and regenerative capacities of Australian communities in the face of disasters and crises. We envision communities that are resilient and regenerative, prepared for adversity, know how to support each other and have a sense of a collective safety net.

Our values

  • We seek to have a real impact on people’s lives. We want communities to be effectively prepared to future disasters and crises and able to face them, recover from them and regenerate in the best possible ways.
  • We are inclusive and collaborative in the ways we work and relate to others.
  • We seek to inspire communities to take action and support each other.
  • We seek to act from a place of inner stillness.

Position Summary

Plan C is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to work with our team to implement both the next iteration of our Community Carers and Responders (CCR) program, and our new Inclusive and accessible community disaster preparedness and planning project. Both projects aim to build community resilience through upskilling participants and fostering community connections. The CCR program, funded by Healthy North Coast, is the latest iteration of our flagship community resilience program and runs until mid-2026 (you can find more information about it here: https://www.planc.org.au/community-carers-and-responders). The Inclusive and accessible community disaster preparedness and planning project, funded by the NSW Reconstruction Authority until December 2025, builds on the CCR program but focuses on increasing the disaster capacity, capability, planning and coordination of vulnerable and often excluded community members.

We are now looking for a Coordinator who will: manage a collaborative re-design process of the training content, engage stakeholders, implement project delivery, co-facilitate training sessions, and oversee participant-led projects. This role is pivotal in achieving project objectives and shaping Plan C’s broader impact for the next financial year and into the future. If you have strong experience in project development and management, community engagement and training facilitation skills, let us know!

Working with the Plan C team takes flexibility, creativity and an understanding of how a small NFP works. We don't have a physical office and work remotely, with dedicated days for in-person meetings. This means you will need to work both independently and use online communication platforms as part of your working day. Travel in the Northern Rivers region will also be required to deliver the projects.

Reporting

The Project Coordinator reports directly to the Program Director and will occasionally work with Plan C’s CEO and Operations Director.

  • Write progress reports to donors, management and other stakeholders.
  • Manage all logistical aspects of the project, ensuring all activities are executed smoothly and efficiently.

Training co-facilitation:

Support to participants:

  • Provide ongoing support and mentoring to some of the participants to enhance their experience and effectiveness in the community.

Stakeholder engagement and relationship building:

  • Engage with local communities to understand their needs and enhance programme impact.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local organisations, stakeholders, and donors.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and maintain engagement with diverse audience.
  • Experience working in community disaster resilience.
  • Experience in training facilitation and educational program development (desirable).
  • Knowledge of the Northern Rivers region and its communities (desirable).
