About the role

This role will report to the South East Water Board Chair and will have key relationships with Directors, the Managing Director, General Managers, and their teams. The corporate secretariat team will support the Delegate in their role, and this role will help position the incumbent for appointment as a Director to public sector Boards.

The Delegate will engage with the South East Water Board to provide an independent perspective and input to the board on a range of issues including but not limited to strategic discussions, environmental and water management, and connection to Aboriginal values. The Delegate is expected to attend all Board meetings as far as possible and envisioned that the Delegate may attend meetings for at least one Committee.

About you

You will be passionate about developing knowledge, skills and capabilities in Board governance. You will have a strong interest in sustainable water management and have connections to South East Water’s catchment area.

You will be willing and able to contribute to an effective Board culture by providing insight across a range of matters including strategic direction, organisational culture, workplace safety, operational and financial performance. Your will also provide insight on South East Water’s environmental, economic, social and cultural contribution, and their accountability to government, regulators, customers and communities.

Role Requirements

  1. Connection to communities and people in the South East Water service area.
  2. Experience supporting cultural awareness and cultural safety in a team environment.
  3. Interest in sustainable water management and services in the South East Water service area
  4. Willingness and ability to contribute to an effective Board culture.
  5. Interest in developing knowledge and skills in Board governance within the water industry and demonstrated capacity to develop Board readiness.
