About the organisation and the role
This is your chance to connect thousands of Aboriginal businesses and job seekers with business and employment opportunities existing under the IPP, APP & APIC policies, through a dynamic new hub established by the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC).
Yarpa, meaning pathway, is Australia’s first hub connecting Indigenous business and job seekers with roles in industry, the corporate sector and government.
The Business & Employment Partnership Manager will lead a team of six staff in building the capability and capacity of Indigenous business and job seekers, ensuring they are connected into the pipeline of opportunity that exist under the various Indigenous procurement policies.
About you
You will have a clear focus on detail, with extensive experience managing budgets, staff and stakeholders, leading teams to deliver positive outcomes for Aboriginal people.
You will be highly organised, with an ability to deliver clear, written reports when required and a demonstrated capability to solve problems, build strategy, develop plans and deliver results, both effectively and creatively.
Essential Requirements:
- Aboriginality – this is an identified position under Section 14 (d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills. Ability to manage and lead team
- Experience working with Aboriginal communities and organisations to achieve outcomes
- Exceptional communication skills with demonstrable ability to form good interpersonal relationships at all levels
- Demonstrated experience working with or within the Aboriginal business sector
- Demonstrated experience in the Aboriginal Business/Employment industry and understanding of both procurement and participation policy.
- Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving ability including the ability to build strategy, plan, prioritise, meet deadlines, and deliver results effectively and creatively.
- Ability to produce insightful, concise written communication suitable for supporting critical decision making
- Ability to grasp concepts quickly and understand their broader implications across all levels
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal business and employment trends and how they impact upon communities and industries.
- Strong computer literacy skills
- A highly organised individual who enjoys taking logical, fact-based, approaches to complex problem solving and is able to interpret and provide statistics and data
- A current Drivers Licence
- Current Australian Working with Children check
Desirable:
- Strong developed networks in the Employment Industry.
- Experience managing Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems
- Understanding of political environments of NSW and Commonwealth Governments
Key Accountabilities
- Meet the KPI’s and objectives of the Project Grant – Western Sydney Indigenous Business and Employment Hub (Yarpa)
- Contract Management and communications with the department regularly including negotiations, including performance reports.
- Develop annual Yarpa Business and Employment service budget and manage resources to meet financial expectation.
- Lead the engagement with key employment and recruitment providers to develop a cultural understanding of the needs of Aboriginal job seekers to assist them to achieve employment outcomes
- Engage with government and non-government stakeholders (at all levels) to support the realisation of Indigenous procurement and recruitment policies
- Develop and implement strategies including workshops for the Yarpa Hub to influence improved service for Indigenous job seekers and employment agencies and connection to Indigenous Businesses, industry leaders, and opportunities including the Yarpa opportunities platform.
- Identify and manage priority sectors for engagement and stakeholder engagement strategies
- Maintain comprehensive awareness of current government policies and guidelines relating to Indigenous procurement and employment participation.
- Analyse pipelines of future employment opportunities in priority sectors, by Industry and location.
- Support Aboriginal talent pipeline with Employers, Employment Service & Training providers through Yarpa membership
- Analyse current and projected in-demand employee skill sets and/or business types relevant to priority sectors and communicate these needs with employment provider partners and stakeholders
- Work closely with the Yarpa Hub team ensure there are clear synergies between the Yarpa Hub’s employment, business and industry client pipelines
- Record all stakeholder interactions into Client Relationship Management (CRM) System
- Work collaboratively with the Director and Hub staff to analyse data and develop communication products to reach key stakeholders
