Director, Inquiry Support and Insight

PeakCare Queensland

Join PeakCare Queensland in Driving Positive Change

PeakCare Queensland is seeking a Director, Inquiry Support and Insight to lead and coordinate our organisation’s contribution to the Commission of Inquiry into Child Protection. This is a rare and meaningful opportunity to shape constructive, forward-looking outcomes for Queensland’s children, young people, families, and the child and family services sector.

In this time-limited role, you will be responsible for coordinating all inquiry-related activities within PeakCare, ensuring our responses are thoughtful, well-governed, and impactful. You will project manage the development of submissions and advice, lead sector engagement activities, and ensure PeakCare’s leadership supports positive sector outcomes. Importantly, you will work collaboratively across the organisation, liaising with our members, external stakeholders, and advisory groups to amplify constructive contributions, not just meet compliance requirements.

About the Role

  • Coordinate PeakCare’s formal responses to the Commission (subpoenas, submissions, evidence), managing inputs from across the organisation.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for governance structures, including working groups and advisory bodies.
  • Liaise directly with member organisations, offering briefings, resources, and consolidated sector support.
  • Lead public messaging, and social listening to ensure PeakCare’s contributions are constructive, evidence led and acknowledge community sentiment.
  • Ensure regular, clear reporting to the CEO, Board, and members on inquiry progress, risks, and sector insights.

About You

You are an experienced project or program leader with:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (law, social work, social sciences, policy, governance, or related field).
  • Significant post-graduate experience, particularly in child protection, social policy, or regulatory environments.
  • Expertise in managing complex projects with diverse stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of legal and compliance frameworks, particularly around inquiries or commissions.
  • A collaborative, constructive leadership style that supports positive change.

What We Offer

  • Flexible, hybrid working arrangements based in Brisbane CBD.
  • A competitive salary aligned with SCHADS Award Level 8 plus salary packaging benefits.
  • Five weeks of annual leave per annum.
  • The opportunity to contribute meaningfully to once-in-a-generation sector reform and improvement.

Assessment Criteria

Applicants are encouraged to address the following in their application:

  • Leadership and Coordination

Demonstrated experience in leading complex projects, governance structures, or multi-stakeholder initiatives, particularly in sensitive or high-stakes environments

  • Sector and Policy Understanding

Knowledge of the child protection system, social policy frameworks, and the broader child and family services sector in Queensland.

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration

Proven ability to engage, support, and coordinate across diverse stakeholders, including member organisations, advisory groups, and government representatives.

  • Legal, Compliance, and Governance Acumen

Understanding of statutory, regulatory, or compliance obligations relevant to commissions or inquiries, with experience ensuring organisational accountability.

  • Communication and Impact

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on public messaging, media awareness, and delivering constructive, impactful outcomes.

  • Alignment with PeakCare Values

Demonstrated commitment to PeakCare’s core principles of child-centred advocacy, inclusivity, evidence-based action, and sector collaboration.
