Forward Ability Support is a not-for-profit organisation with a history of over 60 years of providing key services to people with spinal cord injuries or similar related health conditions. Our accommodation services at Ferguson Lodge has provided community based accommodation and support for people with spinal cord injury since 1979. We provide a home for 34 people with spinal injuries across our Lodge and Villa accommodation.  

The Opportunity

We are looking for a dynamic Facility Coordinator to be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of administration and maintenance of Ferguson Lodge including buildings, grounds, plant, furniture and fittings, fixtures, and equipment, owned and operated by Forward. 

About the role

  • Coordinate the day-to-day responsibilities of accommodation properties including external service providers and contractors.
  • Liaise with residents and staff regarding any repairs or maintenance required.
  • Maintain a Contractor Register of all approved contractors ensuring all documentation listed on the Register is current.
  • Issue work orders to contractors to undertake responsive, planned, and cyclical (preventative) maintenance works.
  • Request quotations from contractors for extraordinary responsive, planned, and cyclical (preventative) maintenance works, negotiate better rates.
  • Maintain an equipment register including dates of purchase, servicing and disposal.
  • Support residents to access appropriate maintenance for personally owned/hired equipment.
  • Ensure, gardening and cleaning services occur according to standards and legislations.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance and repairs including ensuring registration, vehicle permits and suitably qualified drivers.
  • Support resident outings by driving the van and providing assistance to residents and staff as required.
  • Ensure invoices are checked and sent to finance for payment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation at all times.
  • Ensure flexibility with work timings to facilitate contractor movements and site access.
  • Monitor and report on maintenance programs for all Accommodation based properties.
  • Work closely with the Resident Support Officer to ensure relevant and appropriate communication to all residents and tenant.
  • Provide coverage of reception between 2pm and 5pm each day and during periods of leave to cover other staff members.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement by sharing ideas, participating in staff meetings, raising issues, questioning the way we do things and offering solutions; 

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • 12 months experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills, including experience with working with people with a disability.
  • High level written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Sound keyboard & computer skills including use of a range of software platforms including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Knowledge of the building and or related service industry and/or asset management desirable.
  • Knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation.
  • Currently hold an NSW Class C drivers’ licence and willingness to drive a large van.
  • Reliable, flexible and adaptable.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and ethical behaviour.
