Remote / Work from Home
At Oxfam Australia, we believe all lives are equal and no-one should live in poverty. We are a member of Oxfam International, a global confederation working with partners and local communities in 76 countries.
Would you like to join this global movement of people working together to eliminate the inequalities that keep people in poverty?
We are currently seeking an proactive and experienced Communications Coordinator to support a major national campaign calling on governments to make big polluters pay for the damage they cause.
The Make Big Polluters Pay (MBPP) Alliance is a powerful coalition of climate impacted communities, development, faith, climate, youth, justice, First Nations and Pacific organisations working hand in hand with allies across Australia and the Pacific. The Make Big Polluters Pay Campaign aims to raise the voices of communities to highlight how the fossil fuel industry is putting the costs of climate change onto communities and not contributing their fair share. We fight for compensation for impacted communities and for cost-of-living relief for everyday people by campaigning for the government to put a levy on big polluting corporations responsible for climate pollution.
As the Communications Coordinator, you will play a key role in identifying and maximising messaging and exposure opportunities for the Make Big Polluters Pay Campaign. This role suits a proactive and organised communications professional who is comfortable working across organisations, coordinating working groups and has strengths in identifying and promoting opportunities for media and public engagement.
This role reports to the Strategic Campaign Lead and is part of a small, collaborative team that also includes a Community Organiser (also currently advertised). As the roles are closely connected, applicants who feel their skills align with both positions are welcome to apply for both roles.

The Communications Coordinator works closely with a Community Organiser role, which is also currently being advertised as part of the same team.
Applicants who feel they meet the criteria for both roles are encouraged to apply for both positions. If you wish to be considered for both, please clearly indicate this in your application and submit a separate application for the Community Organiser role, as each position is assessed individually.
