About the Older Women’s Network NSW

The Older Women’s Network NSW (OWN NSW) is the peak body representing older women across the state. We work to ensure that older women are visible, valued, and heard, advocating for their rights and delivering community-led programs that promote dignity, wellbeing, and equity.

With over 20 community-based groups led by dedicated volunteers, our work spans policy advocacy, service delivery, arts and wellness programs, and support for women facing homelessness, violence, or isolation.

About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled and values-driven Administrative Officer to join our small, passionate team. If you’re highly organised, community-minded, and want your work to make a difference, we strongly encourage you to apply.

You'll play a vital role supporting the day-to-day operations of OWN NSW, including:

  • Maintaining membership records and databases

  • Coordinating online classes (Zoom + Humanitix)

  • Supporting the Newtown Wellness Centre (including opening/closing the office daily)

  • Answering phone calls and enquiries

  • Providing referrals to external support services

  • Assisting with event planning and logistics

  • Managing hall bookings and logging maintenance

  • Supporting our network of local OWN NSW groups

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong administration skills and experience in a similar role

  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Zoom

  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Professional, warm, and approachable communication style

  • Commitment to confidentiality and respectful interactions

Highly Desirable

  • Experience in the community/rights-based sector

  • Awareness of issues affecting older women – e.g. housing, violence, ageism, isolation

  • Confidence supporting older women and diverse communities

  • Familiarity with platforms like Canva, CRMs, or online bookings

  • A strong social justice ethic and understanding of gender equity
