The Opportunity

Parkville Hub is seeking a Health Service Support Administrator to join our driven and inclusive multi-disciplinary team to help play a role in delivering excellent youth friendly early intervention services.  You will be well supported operationally and clinically to ensure your career at Orygen is both fulfilling and rewarding without compromising on your life goals. 

The Parkville Hub provides young people aged 12-25 years, with mild to moderate mental health presentations with a full continuum of trans-diagnostic and staged tiers of clinical and psychosocial services. The Parkville Hub’s goal is to coordinate and enhance existing services at the Parkville site with a particular focus on young people in the “missing middle” between primary and tertiary care services.

The role and your impact

Part-time (0.8 FTE) fixed term position available until 30 June 2022, with potential for further employment.  

The position will provide operational support to the Practice Manager of Parkville Hub to ensure the effective delivery of all administrative functions. Functions include intake, maintaining appointment systems, billing and medical records, other database management and application of Microsoft Office tools. The position will be integral to the overall functioning and delivery of mental health and well-being services to young people and their families and carers, and may incorporate other Parkville Clinic related activities and responsibilities as directed by the Practice Manager.

Subject to direction, while working with a degree of autonomy, this position will be supervised by and report to the Practice Manager, Parkville Hub for all matters outside of daily operations. 

About you

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

  • Knowledge and previous experience in a medical/health administration setting, medical software and Medicare billing systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate warmly and effectively with young people, their families and a diverse range of health and community service providers. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high standard of confidential reception and administrative services, including a high level of word processing skills. 
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, relevant administrative/clerical procedures, including software applications and filing systems. 
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team. 
  • Demonstrated sound problem-solving skills and an ability to multitask.
  • Understanding of contemporary human resources practices including workplace health and safety, equal opportunity and antidiscrimination. 
  • Ability to exercise initiative in the application of established work procedures.

Salary and benefits

Depending on your skills and experience, a salary of $50,329 p.a. (pro rata) is offered plus superannuation and access to generous NFP salary packaging.
