About the job

The Data Engineer will maintain and improve Orygen Digitals data pipelines, systems architecture, and dashboards (PowerBI, Superset). You’ll collaborate across teams to enhance data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility, while driving secure, efficient reporting and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering you will;

  • Design and maintain scalable data architecture, ensuring data integrity, automation, and future-proofing storage and processing solutions.
  • Lead ETL processes, write clean and tested code, document solutions, and uphold best practices in data engineering and software design.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs, support research and business metrics, and ensure secure, accessible reporting through tools like PowerBI and Superset.
  • Support a data-driven culture by communicating insights clearly, integrating new data sources, and enabling self-service access to high-quality data.
  • Contribute to team culture and operations, participate in cross-functional collaboration, and promote a safe, inclusive, and innovative workplace.

Skills and experience

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field or relevant certifications in data engineering, cloud platforms, or related technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Engineer)
  • Extensive experience in designing, building, deploying and scaling data platforms and strong programming skills in languages such as Python, bash, SQL, NoSQL and other query languages.
  • Solid knowledge of stream and batch processing architectures, relational and NoSQL databases, data warehousing concepts, cloud architecture principles and containerization and experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in plain language, championing a user-first approach throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Attention to detail, with confidence and self-motivation to work independently and with others as required.
