The Wadeye Safe House is looking for a passionate manager to support women and children affected by domestic, family, and sexual violence. We are immersed in remote communities, delivering family, domestic violence programs and crisis accommodation. You’ll work closely with Aboriginal communities to deliver national programs on a local level.

About you

  • Experience developing community programs
  • Be an effective, respectful and approachable leader
  • Ability to self-reflect on your behaviours and decisions in the workplace
  • Work cooperatively and respectfully with all levels of staff and the local community
  • Be a mentor and inspire staff setting an example of good practice and work ethic
  • Create a workplace culture that supports good practice, quality services and reflects One Tree’s vision, mission, values and codes of ethics
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in remote locations
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by victims of family domestic and sexual violence (DFSV)
  • Ability to create and maintaining productive working relationships with key external stake holders and referrers
  • The skills to operate the Wadeye Safe House and to work consultatively with Aboriginal communities and support the facilitation of integrated service delivery that contributes to improved outcomes for women and children
  • Embed the Risk Assessment and Management Frameworks (RAMF) into service delivery as an evidence-based response to identifying and responding to DFSV risk that is critical to reducing the impacts of DFV
  • Proven written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Sound IT skills including use of database and data reporting programs

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Be eligible to work in Australia and willing to relocate to Wadeye
  • Vocational or tertiary qualifications in community services, training and/or Aboriginality
  • Satisfactory National Police Clearance (not older than 6 months from issue date)
  • Hold a current working with children check card (valid in NT)
