The Wadeye Safe House is located in the small coastal community of Wadeye 420kms from Darwin. All while being supported by a small team, where your ideas and input can have genuine impact on the service and community.
About the role
The position works with individuals and communities to eliminate, prevent and respond to domestic and family and sexual violence by:
- Working closely with the Wadeye Safe House team to provide support to clients at critical times, including intake and exiting the service.
- Working closely with local agencies, including government and non-government service providers. Working closely with community members and local and trusted elders to seek local solutions and support initiatives aimed at reducing domestic, family and sexual violence in the community.

Selection criteria:
Essential
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by victims of domestic, family and sexual violence
- Proven written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Proven history of developing and maintaining productive working relationships with key external stake holders and referrers
- Effective organisational and time management skills
- Sound IT skills including use of database and data reporting programs
Desirable
- Experience living and working in remote locations/communities
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Experience with SHIP online case management system
Requirements/Qualifications
- Satisfactory Police clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date)
- NT working with children check card
- Current ‘C’ class Driver’s Licence
- Relevant qualification in community services, community development, and/or social work
