Offshore Alliance Organiser

Offshore Alliance

The Offshore Alliance is a successful member-led industrial organisation that combines the industrial, organising and legal resources of the Australian Workers’ Union and the Maritime Union of Australia. The Alliance organises in all sectors of the hydrocarbons sector in and off the coast of Western Australia including production, maintenance, inspection, construction, drilling, catering, ROV, aviation and others.

The Alliance currently has over 4,000 members.

The Alliance was formed to protect and advance the interests of workers in the offshore sector through targeted campaigns, strategic bargaining and worker empowerment, always putting the interests of its members first. The Alliance has grown significantly through targeted campaigns, enterprise agreement negotiations and the tireless efforts of the current organising team and now requires an additional Organiser to ensure that member recruitment and servicing continues at current levels.

The position will ideally be based in Perth, however this may be flexible for the right applicant. The successful applicant will be responsible for building worker power in a team environment through the recruitment and servicing of members and the development of sustainable activist and delegate structures. The successful applicant will be required to work to larger campaign plans as well as independently as required. As many sites that the Alliance organises are not easily accessible, it is a critical requirement that any applicant is proficient in written communications, can draft sophisticated member comms on a regular basis and is familiar with Microsoft Office.
