Role Purpose

The AOD Clinician Care & Recovery Co-ordination Intensive Support, & Group Facilitator is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, person-centred planning, care, and recovery coordination outreach support, Facilitating Group Programs and providing a range of counselling interventions, including comprehensive harm reduction interventions, complex case management and linkages with other services.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Providing high quality engagement, assessment, treatment and support services to individuals and their families through evidence based, therapeutic counselling and group work.
• Conducting comprehensive assessments
• Developing treatment plans and providing effective counselling interventions and assertive referrals to meet the individual needs of clients and their families, including those with complex needs.
• Considering the needs of, and identifying any risks to vulnerable children, working with families to develop safety plans, and facilitating referrals to partner Child First and Family service agents when indicated.
• Facilitating forensic and voluntary group programs as required.
• Coordinating with Care and Recovery, Clinical Review, and other processes to support seamless transitions between service types and a consistent approach to supporting the achievement of clients’ recovery goals.

Who are WE looking for?

To be successful in this role, you must hold the below qualifications/experience…

1. Relevant health and or welfare Tertiary/Degree Qualification such as Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences with one-years’ experience or Associate Diploma with relevant experience, AOD or other relevant area of study desirable
2. Certificate IV Alcohol & Other Drugs, or willingness to complete within the first 12 months of employment. *Note: refer to Appendix A for details on competencies
3. Proven skills in the application of assessment, case coordination, counselling case management, case formulation and the development of individual treatment plans
4. Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, families, colleagues, stakeholders, and other service providers.
5. Proven ability to work with a range of people (including specific client groups such as Aboriginal, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and Forensic clients) and families experiencing problematic AOD use, in a non-judgmental and respectful manner
6. A demonstrated commitment to teamwork
7. The ability to exercise problem solving thinking in an independent working environment.

*Appendix A (AOD Competencies)

OV requires staff in clinical positions to have the following competencies (or their equivalent). Where people do not already have these competencies, OV will invest in the staff’s professional development by providing them through our registered training organisation (RTO).
The competencies required in the first 12 months of employment are:

• CHCAOD001 – Work in an alcohol and other drugs context
• CHCAOD004 – Assess needs of clients with alcohol and other drugs issues
• CHCAOD006 – Provide interventions for people with alcohol and other drugs issues
• CHCAOD009 – Develop and review individual alcohol and other drugs treatment plans
