Ocean Mind is a community surf movement providing evidence-based therapeutic surfing programs to young people aged 8-18 years old experiencing mental health issues, disabilities, and social isolation; aiming to create life-changing experiences for these young people. We offer a suite of free therapeutic surfing programs to young people, as well as a volunteer training program.
Ocean Mind is delighted to be developing a new social enterprise that provides specialised 1:1 therapeutic surfing sessions to young people with disabilities on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). We are recruiting for a part-time NDIS Program Facilitator to join our growing team to deliver and coordinate this program.
This exciting position is a combination of delivery and coordination, so each week you’ll be down at the beach working with young people while also working from home to coordinate the program. As this is a new service, you will also work closely with the CEO and NDIS Support worker to foster new partnerships and grow the program.
This role would suit someone who is looking for a mix of client-facing work as well as developing and coordinating a program. You’ll be passionate about working with people, but also have strong admin and organisation skills. You must be committed to our values – empowerment, connection, sustainability and stoke. The job also requires a certain level of fitness and comfortability of being in the water, and while being a pro surfer isn’t a requirement, someone who is at least a beginner is desired.
Initially the position will begin as a 0.6 EFT however this could grow to a full-time position depending on organisation needs and your availability. The hours of work per week (22.8) are flexible, however delivery of the NDIS sessions will take place mainly on the weekends, so we're looking for someone who can commit to at least one full weekend day of work. The program coordination hours can be done from home. Orientation for the role will commence in August, with program delivery to start in late September.
Ocean Mind offers a range of benefits and you will join a diverse and inclusive organisation. You will receive an above-award based salary, access to professional development and regular supervision. You’ll work alongside a small but passionate team of 10 other staff. We've been in the Geelong/Surf Coast region for over five years and have strong connections to the community, so you'll also have the opportunity to form relationships with our incredible community of volunteers, partners and participants.
