Nunkuwarrin Yunti, the foremost Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in Adelaide aims to promote and deliver improvement in the health and wellbeing of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families in the greater metropolitan areas of Adelaide and regional areas to advance their social, cultural and economic status. About the Role

The primary role of the Receptionist includes and is not limited to:

• Provide a high quality, professional reception & switchboard services as the first point of contact for clients, their families and visitors to Nunkuwarrin Yunti;
• Liaise effectively with clients and visitors from varied cultural backgrounds while using empathy, tact and discretion while maintaining confidentiality and awareness of the need to respect others;
• Refer front desk enquiries clients and visitors to the most appropriate person and/or service area in a swift and timely manner;
• Undertake associated administrative support work;
• Extensive contacts required with employees of Nunkuwarrin Yunti, visiting medical and professional experts and members of the public;
• Responsible for unlocking front doors each morning by 8:50am and closing at 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

Selection Criteria 

Essential:

• A minimum of a Certificate 2 in Business Administration or a minimum 1-3 years of experience working in a similar role;
• Excellent work ethic with impressive time management skills while working under minimum supervision and being able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines;
• Excellent communication skills which can be delivered in all forms, with the demonstrated capacity to handle difficult and/or distressed clients diplomatically;
• Professional dress code and present a positive, courteous, welcoming and professional image with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal;
• Previous experience using a multi-line switchboard working on reception and dealing with members of the public;
• Liaise effectively with clients and visitors from varied cultural backgrounds while using empathy, tact and discretion while maintaining confidentiality and awareness of the need to respect others;
• Demonstrated capacity to handle difficult and/or distressed callers diplomatically;
• Experience in using MS Office Suite packages

Desirable:

• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation and communities
• Experience in using Communicare or similar Patient Information Recall System
• Ability to support and train less experienced staff including trainees or work experience students as required
