Are you a passionate and dedicated General Practitioner seeking an opportunity to work in Aboriginal Health? We are currently looking for a skilled and compassionate GP to join our multidisciplinary team at Gilgandra Local Aboriginal Medical Service (GLAMS).

Gilgandra is located 64 Kms North West of Dubbo and is a great little town. First, feel welcome with a sense of community that can only be found in country towns, while you take advantage of the lower cost of living and the additional hours in the day, you will discover while travelling the traffic free roads of our region. Discover galleries, museums, great walks and fascinating heritage in this country town.

Gilgandra has access to great schools, Public Primary and High as well as Catholic, a Pre-School and a Child Care Centre. Gilgandra has your grocery needs at Supa IGA, beautiful parks, an information centre, a gym clubs and cafes as well as sporting clubs and local pool.

There are also a number of tourist attractions in our region worthy of note including the Warrumbungles National Park and Observatory, Taronga Western Plains Zoo and the Old Dubbo Gaol just to name a few.

abour Gilgandra Local Aboriginal Medical Service

At GLAMS we care for the whole community from pregnancy and early childhood, men's and women's health, preventative care and health promotion, complex chronic disease management, geriatrics and palliative care. With the support of our nursing staff, Aboriginal Health Worker, friendly receptionists and management team, we pride ourselves in providing high quality medical care for our patients.

We are also supported by a visiting dietician, podiatrist, pharmacist, optometrist, audiologist, Womens Health and diabetic educator.

The clinic also has access to regular telehealth clinics with specialists. GLAMS is a bulk billing clinic, operating between 8:30am and 5pm week days with no weekend shifts. On average GPs are expected to see between 15-20 patients per day.

The successful applicant will be offered a generous gross salary of $390,000.00 PA with the option of further negotiations inclusive of superannuation. You will also have access to generous salary packaging options. Accommodation and vehicle will be available to assist with relocating to the region.

about you

Successful applicants will be expected to hold the following qualifications and demonstrate the following qualities and skills:

  • Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution
  • Must hold vocational registration
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Current registration with RACGP or ACRRM or equivalent.
  • Must hold appropriate Medical Indemnity Insurance.
  • Knowledge of Best Practice software and My Health Record or be willing to learn
  • A commitment to continuous learning and staying up to date with latest medical advancements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with colleagues and clients
  • Class C Drivers License
  •  Successful applicants will be required to provide a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) and a Working with Children Check prior to appointment
  • Experience working in Aboriginal Health
