An exciting opportunity to join the James Martin Institute for Public Policy (JMI) in a senior role, working in close partnership with government and research experts to transform public policy outcomes.
Would suit someone with strong consulting skills and experience of complex public policy reform.
JMI is a unique joint-venture that works with government to help policymakers more effectively harness Australia’s cutting-edge research expertise. A formal partner of both government and universities, the Institute works to forge expert networks to address complex challenges and identify future trends. Join our growing team in a high-performing, positive, and supportive organisational culture as we build an enduring Institute for Australia.
This is a chance to help shape the strategic direction and capabilities of the Institute in an exciting period of rapid growth. As a senior colleague in our Research and Policy (R&P) Team, you will be responsible for developing and delivering an ongoing program of collaborative projects and policy engagement with government.
Working across a wide range of policy areas, you will harness the expertise of world-leading researchers from our university partners to provide timely, practical and independent advice and strategic support to government.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Research and Policy, this is a fast-paced and wide-ranging role, with leadership responsibilities across the R&P Team and the Institute more broadly.
The Institute is looking for an outstanding senior policy professional with excellent project management and communication skills and experience in managing senior stakeholders. You will be adept at delivering concise, highly-structured deliverables for government. The ideal candidate will be able to lead others through structured thinking and analytical problem solving. You will have strong academic credentials and significant professional experience working in consultancy, government or other public policy context.
The role is well-suited to someone with core consulting skills, who enjoys working across a range of policy areas, and is looking to be at the forefront of policy innovation across some of Australia’s most pressing challenges.
