Council for Intellectual Disability (CID) is a disability rights organisation led by people with intellectual disability. For more than 65 years, CID has worked and advocated for a community where all people with intellectual disability are valued.
ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Inclusion Projects Officer will work on a range of exciting projects raging from health, employment to supported decision making, all designed to enhance the lives and opportunities of people with intellectual disability.
All elements of the projects are co-designed and co-facilitated with people with intellectual disability.
Your role will include project management and implementation, developing content, designing and facilitating training, and engaging with various stakeholders to drive positive change.
In line with the position description, the inclusion project officer will
- Work with people with lived experience to co-produce resources, content and activities for people with intellectual disability, including those with high support needs.
- Contribute to developing training content, both for eLearning and workshop delivery.
- Facilitate workshops and information sessions for various participant groups, including co-facilitating training alongside people with intellectual disability.
- Develop and maintain effective communication networks with internal and external stakeholders.
- Undertake community engagement activities across a range of events, locations and networks in NSW.
- Implement the project from planning through to delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and outcomes are met.
- Monitor, record and evaluate data and processes to capture impact and inform continuous improvement.
- Support the participation of people with intellectual disability in all aspects of the project and more broadly in CID’s work.
- Work independently and as part of a team, working closely with other teams at CID.
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA - SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated commitment to the human rights of people with disabilities and the principles of participation and inclusion, with an understanding of the importance of supporting people to speak for themselves.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing projects from initiation to completion, including managing timelines, budgets, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring delivery of outcomes aligned with project goals.
- Experience in developing and facilitating training, including eLearning modules and in person workshops, co-designed with people with disability, and grounded in adult learning principles.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, people with disability, and stakeholders to support inclusive and collaborative project outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
- Willing and able to travel regularly across NSW to support project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent computer literacy including in Microsoft Office.
Qualifications or experience in inclusive employment, health, teaching, adult education, training or similar field will be highly regarded. Experience using person-centred planning will also be highly regarded.
