The Opportunity

The Senior Project Officer is responsible for the efficient organisation and management of the operations of the Zone, ensuring that NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) policies and procedures are effectively followed and correctly interpreted and implemented at Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) level, under the provisions of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 as amended. 

The Senior Project Officer also assists the Zone Director with the implementation and delivery of Zone Office strategic priorities and projects.

Success Profile

  • Knowledge and/or appreciation of the cultural, social and economic needs and issues that affect Aboriginal people in today’s society.
  • Demonstrated high level of management and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate diverse functions and meet client needs within policy and legislative framework.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the capacity to negotiate.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with legislation and program delivery relating to Aboriginal people.
  • Sound understanding of project management, and financial literacy skills.
  • Demonstrated experience  in policy formulation, implementation and review.
  • Demonstrated experience in research, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Zone in support of Aboriginal Land Councils.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
