NRCH provides a range of medical, allied health, dental and community services to clients from all backgrounds.

The Dental Assistant position (casual) will contribute to the achievements of the organisation’s aims and objectives by assisting dental operators to perform their duties to the highest standard and thereby enable effective and efficient delivery of dental services to the community.

The position requires the understanding and application of the social model of health, drawing on health promotion and community development principles and practice to ensure an inclusive and culturally appropriate client centred workplace and health promoting model of care. The delivery of care may occur across sites and in outreach, place based care.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Provide high quality clinical assistance to oral health professionals
  • Contribute to Health Promoting Practice model
  • Undertake Reception duties, intake and administrative duties to support the efficient operations of the clinic

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential qualifications, attributes and skills include, but are not limited to:

  • Dental Assistant Certificate lll or Certificate IV level.
  • Organised and attention to detail
  • Able to work in a culturally appropriate manner with clients
  • Able to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Establish work priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Professional personal presentation and behaviour, particularly with clients
  • Responsive and sensitive to cultural needs of clients
  • Able to undertake administrative tasks
  • Able to verbally communicate in another language as per client group an advantage
  • Have a basic understanding and application of the social model of health desirable
