Program Officer, Service and System Design

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for co-design and service innovation in mental health? Join a dynamic team working to redesign and improve primary mental health services commissioned in our region through the use of data and engagement with the community.

  • Remuneration: Band 3 - $71,116.14 - $85,988.34 + 11.5% superannuation + generous NFP salary packaging options up to $18,550
  • Full-time (1.0 FTE) maximum term role until 31 March 2026.
  • Docklands office location - Hybrid; WFH (2-3 days)

You will be part of the Service and System Design team within the Service Development and Reform Business Unit, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to improve and integrate the delivery of services in primary mental health.

You will support the design and implementation of innovative care models through project coordination, analysis of policy, research, and service data, and co-design.

This role is ideal for someone with intermediate skills in service design and project coordination, with opportunities to contribute to system reform and gain experience in primary health commissioning.

What will my typical week look like:

  • You will coordinate and monitor project activities and working groups to support the design and implementation of integrated mental health service models.
  • Engaging with stakeholders through co-design workshops and consultations to gather insights and contribute to meaningful service improvements.
  • Supporting commissioning activities by contributing to strategy development, managing contracts, and analysing data to inform service design and reporting.

About you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a health, allied health, social science or related field relevant to the position and at least 3 years of work experience
  • Demonstrated experience of successfully coordinating multi-stakeholder design or implementation projects, including experience working in clinical mental healthcare delivery
  • Capacity to work both autonomously and in a team environment with an agile and fast paced mindset to achieve project milestones and navigate ambiguity
  • Proficient interpersonal, written and communication and negotiation skills; including the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to make sound judgements under pressure, create clarity out of ambiguity and respond positively to change in a dynamic environment.
