The Northern Land Council (NLC) was established 50 years ago under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act in 1976, to assist Aboriginal people in the Top End of the Northern Territory to acquire and manage their traditional lands, waters and seas. The Payroll team are part of the People and Culture team at the Northern Land Council, a team dedicated to managing human resources, fostering positive workplace culture, and supporting employee development and engagement to align with the organisation's goals and values.
The Senior Payroll Officer, reporting to the Coordinator, will be primarily responsible for overseeing and executing our payroll processing for staff and council members in accordance with our legislative requirements and operational timeframes and standards. This role also plays a key function in assisting with the training and development of other HR / payroll officers and driving a customer focused service approach for our staff and internal stakeholders.

You'll have a solid understanding of Australian payroll regulations, tax legislation and superannuation. This will be coupled with a demonstrated understanding of confidentiality, compliant record keeping practices, attention to detail and accuracy. One of your standout qualities will be the ability to simplify complex payroll information in order to share it with diverse audiences.
