The Northern Land Council (NLC) was established 50 years ago under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act in 1976, to assist Aboriginal people in the Top End of the Northern Territory to acquire and manage their traditional lands, waters and seas. About the Role

The Anthropology team is expanding and in order to meet the NLC’s growing needs for internal research, we have multiple vacancies for Research Assistants within our Anthropology team. As a Research Assistant, you will be responsible for collating a range of anthropological material, applying preservation techniques under the guidance of the LIR Supervisor, and leading digitisation efforts within the LIR Library.

This role extends to administrative support and ensuring seamless service delivery to stakeholders. For full details on the responsibilities of this role please refer to the Position Description.

What you will Bring

Bring your prowess in problem-solving, using initiative and your exceptional time management skills. Your proven track record of managing multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines in confidential settings, make you well-suited for this role. In addition to this, you will have:

  • Certificate III in Library Information Services or equivalent, or a related field and/or a minimum of one (1) year experience working in a similar role.
  • Knowledge and experience of office software, as well as familiarity with collection management databases and other specialised computer applications.
  • Experience in materials conservation practices and techniques or cultural heritage conservation or the ability to rapidly acquire.

  • A minimum annual salary of $63,905 (negotiable based on experience) plus 14% superannuation and district allowance.
  • Salary packaging benefits of up to $15,900 and additional Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2,650 per year.
  • Generous leave entitlements such as 5 weeks annual leave, 18 days personal leave per annum, and paid Christmas shut down
