WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

An accredited Financial Counsellor - minimum of Diploma of Financial Services - who is a member of the Financial Counsellors Association of WA. You will have experience working in remote communities, delivering compliant financial services and developing a team of Financial Capability Workers.

your role

  1. Provide information, support and advocacy to help clients overcome financial difficulty.
  2. Identify marketplace problems which require a broad response (systematic advocacy).
  3. Develop Financial Capability Workers (yet to be recruited) to complete their studies and provide appropriate support to clients of the service.

KEY SKILLS| CAPABILITIES | EXPERIENCE

  1. MUST have Diploma of Financial Services (CHC51122) and be a member of the Financial Counsellors Association of WA.
  2. Demonstrable understanding of financial counselling standards and code of professional conduct.
  3. Understanding of the Financial System, Credit and Debt law, Banking, and Legislation including Consumer Credit Code, Bankruptcy Legislation, and Legal Debt Recovery etc.
  4. Experience in formal Financial Assessments and education workshops.
  5. Experience developing Financial Capability Workers.
  6. Excellent computer, administration, and numeracy skills.
  7. Highly developed communication skills – written and verbal.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILitIES

  1. Management and development of the Financial Capabilities Workers.
  2. Financial Case Work to referred / eligible clients.
  3. Assessment of referred cases.
  4. Provision of information about financial options.
  5. Advocate and negotiate on behalf of clients with relevant stakeholders, including credit providers.
  6. Assist the client to develop the skills necessary to address their situation.
  7. Respond to clients in crisis.
  8. Provision of information to local community workers/services.
  9. Act as a resource person to other team members on financial matters.
  10. Group work on relevant issues, both in-house and to communities – including outreach work.

MANDATORY EMPLOYMENT CLEARANCES

Must have prior to and during employment:

  1. National Police Clearance
  2. Working with Children Check
