WHO YOU ARE

  1. An experienced and qualified Financial Capability Worker OR
  2. Someone with an interest in developing a career in this sector, who’s keen to complete a traineeship and study.

To undertake a traineeship, you must:

  1. attend and participate in class and group work.
  2. commit to a minimum of 5-hours study – at work - per week.
  3. meet agreed deadlines for the completion of assignments and units.

YOUR JOB

Financial Capability Workers support people who:

  1. Want to improve their financial literacy skills, and
  2. Are recovering from financial difficulty.

By providing a meet & greet services and basic financial information / activities to clients under the direction of an accredited Financial Counsellor.

KEY SKILLS| CAPABILITIES | EXPERIENCE

  1. Experienced / Qualified: Minimum Certificate III in Community Services (CHC32015) and 3 x financial units of competency: CHCEDU 005, CHCEDU 006 and CHCEDU 007
  2. Not qualified: Prepared to complete a traineeship to complete a Certificate IV Community Services (CHC420221) before enrolling in the Diploma course.
  3. Demonstrable experience providing individual support and mentoring to clients.
  4. Basic knowledge of government services, utility, or telco hardship programs.
  5. General knowledge of basic bank accounts and the banking system.
  6. Experience delivering education sessions – to individuals and groups of people.
  7. Good computer, administration, and numeracy skills.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILitIES

  1. Complete intake data.
  2. Providing information and/or completing forms for financial support programs including NILS, HUGS, telco hardship programs etc.
  3. Guide clients through preparing a basic budget, setting up bank accounts / online banking, paying bills, accessing government services etc.
  4. Facilitate individual or group financial literacy education sessions.
  5. Refer clients to the Financial Counsellor for activities that must be completed by an accredited person.

MANDATORY EMPLOYMENT CLEARANCES

Must have prior to and during employment:

  1. National Police Clearance
  2. Working with Children Check
