The Newlands and East Coburg Neighbourhood House (NECCHi) are seeking a Coordinator to join our leadership team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Manager to support the strategic and operational objectives of NECCHi.

NECCHi (Newlands and East Coburg Community Hubs Inc.) is a community run, member-based, not for profit organisation and registered charity operating out of two unique neighbourhood houses on the unceded land of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people.

ABOUT YOU
NECCHi is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader in community development to help drive the achievement of our strategic and operational objectives. This pivotal role requires a highly motivated professional with a strong track record in designing, leading, coordinating and evaluating innovative community development initiatives. The successful candidate will also provide oversight of NECCHi’s auspice and artist-in-residence programs and play a key role in supporting the organisation’s broader operational functions.
responsibilities
- COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, an understanding of community development principles and strategies to co-design and implement innovative and responsive projects in a community setting. Ability to develop strategic networks, partnerships and to secure funding to support joint projects.
- COMMUNICATION SKILLS, an ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with a range of stakeholders, including NECCHi staff, volunteers, participants, artists, and community.
- LEADERSHIP SKILLS, demonstrated ability to support teams and provide strategic thinking and problem solving.
- NETWORKING/PARTNERSHIP SKILLS, to engage, connect and develop effective partnerships with organisations, community groups and individuals whose values and practices align with NECCHi.
- VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT SKILLS, experience working with volunteers, including recruiting, training and managing volunteers. Experience with reviewing and developing volunteer policies and procedures.
- WRITING SKILLS, Highly proficient in English with excellent grant and report writing skills.
- TEAMWORK SKILLS , Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team and committed to working actively to contribute to a positive, inclusive and supportive team culture.
what we are looking for - selection criteria
- Tertiary qualification in community development or a related field, or relevant experience in community-based or Neighbourhood House role
- Demonstrated knowledge of community development frameworks and principles and experience in community development at the local level
- Strong networking skills. Experience with building and maintaining partnerships with a range of stakeholders
- Volunteer Management experience, including: recruiting, training and managing volunteers.
- Leadership experience with supporting teams and providing leadership to programs
- Proficiency in developing and tracking budgets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience in writing grants that clearly address criteria and meet funding guidelines.
- Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS
- Part-time, 2 year fixed position (22.5hrs/week)
- Workdays: Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 8.30am-4.30pm
- Some out of hours work required
- Classification: NHACE Collective Agreement 2018, SACS Level 5 (Paypoint 1, 2 or 3 depending on qualification & experience)
- SCHADS Level 5, Salary range is $97, 377-$101, 783 pro rata per annum, based on skills and experience + superannuation.
- Annual leave loading of 17.5%
- 4 weeks annual leave per annum with the option of purchasing up to an additional 8 weeks leave per annum
